My father Jock Adam worked with oil boilers firstly manufacturing them at Portways in Halstead in the 60’s. Then started working for BP and Shell in the 70’s. He started his own business in 1982 “Jocks Boiler Service” and I started working for my father in 1990.
In the following years he trained me to service and maintain oil boilers to his own very high standards. We regularly worked on Huskvarna warm air units, wall flame, vaporising and pressure jet boilers. Today the majority of my work is on conventional pressure jet boilers and modern condensing appliances.
Due to ill health my father had to retire in 2002 and I took over, calling the business Bobs Oil Boiler Service LLP.
I still look after many of my father’s original customers from the 80’s and a few even from the 70’s. Approximately 90% of my customers are domestic households. I also carry out work for schools, village halls, churches, and domestic size oil boilers on factory premises. Several local Estate Agents and Landlords use me for the service/maintenance of their client’s boilers.
My aim is to give all my customers the best service I can, this includes in a standard service:
- a full clean out of boiler heat exchanger
- removal and cleaning of all baffles
- full dismantle and cleaning of burner
- digital combustion check with print out
- oil tank, filters and oil line inspection
- Great care taken in keeping surrounding work area clean/tidy, using dust sheets and plastic covers etc.
I carry a very large stock of most modern and old boiler spares and manage to repair 99% of all breakdown call outs on the first visit, which is much appreciated by many customers particularly on cold winter days.
I can also arrange for new oil tanks to be installed or existing tanks moved. I also have contact for local reliable plumbers for new installations.
